Start of cooperative hog production with the Princeville slaughterhouse. 1922 1940 La Coop fédéree (then called La Coopérative fédérée de Québec) acquires a pig slaughterhouse in western Québec. The Ouellet slaughterhouse, in Sainte-Perpétue, begins operations. 1942 1947 The Olivier Bienvenue ltée slaughterhouse, in Saint-Valérien, begins operations. P.A. Bonneau begins trade in live animals in Saint-Simon de Bagot. 1950 1954 La Coop fédérée purchases the   Legrade company of Québec. The Eastern slaughterhouse of Montréal is purchased by La Coop fédérée. 1955 1958 The Québec Poultry Ltd. company is set up. In the 1960s, La Coop fédérée purchases the Marieville, Saint-Félix-de-Valois and Victoriaville slaughterhouses. 1960
1964 The Flamingo brand and its logotype are copyrighted. Turcotte & Turmel officially begin operations in Vallée-Jonction. 1965 1968 Turcotte & Turmel open a distribution centre in Anjou.. La Coop fédérée purchases the Edmond Sylvain company of Québec City; the Vallée-Jonction plant is sold to Québec Poultry. 1974 1975 La Coop fédérée purchases Québec Poultry Ltd., including the Berthierville, Saint-Jean-Baptiste-de-Rouville, Sainte-Rosalie, Québec City and Vallée-Jonction plants, as well as an important poultry production business. Salaison Olympia ltée is founded, and a cutting and boning plant is purchased in Saint-Simon-de-Bagot. 1976 1979 Bexel, a division that consolidates all poultry activities of La Coop fédérée, is founded. Groupe Olympia is founded. The company’s rolling stock units are consolidated under one subsidiary company: Transport Transbo inc. 1984 1985 Groupe Olympia acquires Abattoir St-Jean inc. and H. St-Jean et fils (1976) ltée of Saint-Hyacinthe. Groupe Olympia acquires Salaison Expo Ltée of Granby. 1986 1987 Groupe Olympia acquires Corporation Salaison Melrose of Montréal. Bexel acquires Doria Boisjoli and its subsidiary companies. Groupe Olympia acquires the assets of Taillefer in Magog, as well as its distribution centre in Anjou. 1988 1989 La Coop fédérée, through its Bexel division, acquires Galco Food Products, a plant located in Toronto. Olymel, limited partnership, is founded with the merger of Groupe Olympia ltée and Turcotte & Turmel, the meat division of La Coop fédérée. Through its Bexel division, La Coop fédérée acquires Tyson Canada Inc., namely the Iberville, Saint-Damase, Joliette, Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu and Saint-Félix-de-Valois plants, and Marvid Poultry in Montréal North. The new company operates under the Unival name. 1991 1992 A sales office opens in Japan. On September 15, the poultry division of La Coop fédérée adopts the name Aliments Flamingo. 1993 1996 La Coop fédérée takes over Olymel and a partnership in Unidindon is formed with Exceldor; Marvid Poultry in Montréal North is sold. Olymel’s pork processing operations and Aliments Flamingo’s poultry processing operations are consolidated under Olymel L.P. 1998 2001 Olymel acquires a slaughterhouse in Red Deer, Alberta Opening of a distribution centre in Boucherville. SGF Soquia becomes a minority partner of Olymel L.P. Olymel becomes a 50 percent shareholder of Prince Foods L.P. 2002 2004 A sales office in Sydney, Australia, opens. Olymel merges with Supraliment L.P., integrates Prince Foods L.P., and acquires an interest in Gionnone Poultry. The slaughterhouse plant of Princeville reopens and a second shift is implemented at the Red Deer plant. Poultry production activities (Dorion Boisjoli) are transferred to La Coop fédérée. 2005 2006 The company undertakes major investments in the following plants: Princeville, Saint-Esprit-de-Montcalm, Saint-Hyacinthe, Iberville, Saint-Jean-Baptiste-de-Rouville, Sainte-Rosalie, Saint-Damase and Berthierville. Another sales office opens, this time in Seoul, South Korea, and distribution operations begin in Red Deer.
